The Healing Power of Sonic Vibration

By Mary Adams

Most of us have only a small amount of pure, clear healing sound in our lives. Our ears may get little to no daily exposure to natural sounds such as running streams, chirping birds, and the rustling leaves in the forest. We are too often inside where this beautiful natural music is replaced by the hum of computers, the whoosh of the AC, and high-pitched wines of fluorescent lights.

This is the opposite of healing sound, since we do not have 'earlids' to close, we shut the music and sound out with our minds, which can become an unhealthy habit that may tune out beneficial sound.

Sound in its natural state produces the most purest form and tone. With pure tones, we are looking for a sustained sound that holds a vibrational sonic field. Examples of pure toned instruments are tuning forks, singing bowls, and the human voice, particularly when humming or chanting.

The pure sonic waves that ring from these pure tone instruments wake up our ability to listen and hear. And hearing occurs with more than our ears. Sound is vibration, and that vibration moves throughout our body; we feel the sound as much as we take it in with our ears.

Sonic vibration can heal our bodies in the most optimal way because we are all vibratory beings. It creates a totally relaxed and meditative feeling. A calm mind naturally produces a healthier body, making it less susceptible to illness and disease. Whether natural or pure, healing sound takes us out of unnatural states and back into a state of natural balance, our true essence, our divine birthright.
